Well, it's been a while, but when new restaurants open, The Whitney Team is on the case to check it out. This week, we venture to the new Cobian's Restaurant located right on Katella and Winner's Circle.

A little history, they used to be in Los Alamitos under the name Cafe Del Sol. Upon a lease issue, they relocated and joined us in our wonderful City of Cypress. Even MORE history, did you know they have 2 other locations? One in Barstow, and one in Henderson/Las Vegas. When we spoke with Cobian family member and restaurant manager, Marco, he said "we have you covered from the beach to the desert"!

They had a great special for burgers, which I promptly ordered. At the time of this writing, it was $9.99 for a single cheeseburger (no upcharge for cheese!!), fries, and a fountain drink. You can get a double for $11.99, triple for $13.99, and even the Heart Attack Challenge quadruple burger for $15.99.

Marco Cobian, manager, said they modeled their burgers after the old Russell's of LB and they were "kind of like In N Out before In N Out was In N Out, ours is only better". A bold claim, to be sure.

Cobian's Single Cheeseburger Combo

The single cheeseburger didn't disapoint, the meat was seasoned well, the bun was soft, there was a good balance of condiments, and you better believe I didn't leave any behind. Fries were good, but I'd say nothing jumped out about them. The soft drinks were served in enormous mason jars, a nice touch of character!

Cobian's Tuna Sandwich

Sheri opted for the Tuna Salad Sandwich with a Fruit Cup, and Guy went for his typical BLT Sandwich with extra crispy bacon. Both were served fresh, the fruit looked excellent, and Guy's onion rings were a solid choice, by his own admission. They both were pleased with their choices and the overall quality and taste of the food.

We can't wait to be back to continue on through the menu. Next up for me? The Chicken & Waffle Lunch Plate.

Make sure you give them a try! They are currently in their soft opening phase with daily hours of 7:00am - 9:00pm, although Marco mentioned that they might be open later depending on how the first few weekends go. Their address is 4959 Katella Ave, Cypress and their phone number is (657) 214-2426.

Enjoy!
